August 16: Canmore to Calgary

August 16

We drive the short distance from Canmore to Calgary to attend the last day of the Taste of Calgary.  Tickets are $1 each and each booth charges from $1 to $5 per item.  We lunch on chicken pad thai and beef in a delicious sauce over rice along with samples of Vanilla Porter and another dark porter.

We walk down to Stephen's Avenue, a pedestrian only street with stores, pubs, etc.  Then we see "war horse", a stunning sculpture.

We continue down to the Calgary Tower; check out the Lego creation which includes the tower, a cowboy (the Calgary Stampede is held here in July) and one of the lions over the major bridge.

In the park is this sculpture with five women leaders; the law used the word "persons" to mean men and sometimes women. They were trying to change that definition saying "Women are Persons".

Lovely city park across from City Hall.

Dinner is at the Tipperary Pub:  delicious bangers and mash with a side of vegetables (fresh peppers, carrots and green beans) and a spinach salad (with craisins, sugared walnuts, mandarin oranges and feta).  A glass of merlot and a pint of Molson rounded out the meal.
